Tallest of the Joe-pye weeds, with a distinctively hollow stem and large rounded dome-shaped flower clusters. Magnet for swallowtails and monarchs. Formerly *Eupatorium fistulosum*. The burnt roots have traditionally been used as a salt substitute to flavor food.
