Host for black swallowtail. Yellow umbels in late spring. Its flowers have a documented food use, prepared like broccoli raw or cooked — but this is a carrot-family plant, and that family's look-alikes include deadly poison hemlock and water hemlock as well as phototoxic wild parsnip. Never forage any Apiaceae without expert, absolutely certain identification.
