Desert Prince's Plume

Desert prince's plume is a dramatic western perennial that sends up tall, feathery spires of bright yellow flowers above blue-green leaves, a striking, drought-proof native for hot, dry, alkaline soils. Young leaves and stems, cooked with a change of water to remove bitterness, taste something like cabbage; the seed has been ground into a traditional meal.
