Arizona Sycamore
Platanus wrightii
Arizona sycamore is the grand, white-barked shade tree of Southwestern canyon streams, its mottled trunk and huge lobed leaves marking permanent water. A keystone of desert riparian woodland. Like other sycamores, the sweet sap has occasionally been tapped for syrup, though this is a minor, old use.
