Shrubby cinquefoil is a tough, compact shrub covered in butter-yellow flowers all summer, thriving from alpine meadows to tough urban sites. Cold-hardy, drought-tolerant, and deer-resistant. The dried leaves brew into a tea, once used as a substitute for imported tea at high elevations.
